LifeStation has an in-house call center ready for you

10-second breakdown:

One of the best choices in the alert system world. Great customer service from a well-trained staff, affordable pricing, and great user reviews.

The good:

The call center staff is entirely ran by LifeStation. All operators are certified to meet the toughest industry regulations. Call quality is held to the highest standard.

Email alerts are sent to caregivers and registered family members via email in the instance of an emergency.

No cancellation fees or contracts

The bad:

The range isn’t great at 500 feet with seemingly no option to upgrade.

No extra service upgrades such as carbon monoxide or fire alerts to go along with the basic medical service.

How it works:

LifeStation’s website has a lot to offer but you might have to go digging to find what you need. It’s well laid out but all of the information is very general, if you have specific questions such as ‘how large is the base station’ or ‘what cellular network does the wireless station use’ you have to give them a call.

Ordering online can be a bit of a mess too, if at all possible it’s highly recommended to give them a ring. For example, if you’re looking for fall detection or if you don’t have a landline, you’re out of luck with ordering online – your only option is to pick up the phone to get the products you need.

The website might be a little confusing but LifeStation’s pricing and products are much easier to wrap your head around. They are a great choice for couples, adding a second person to your plan is only a tenth of the cost of the first person.

As for their medical alert devices, LifeStation has two main choices. First up is their ‘LifeStation Standard Medical Alert Package.’ The naming department may not have been very creative but the name tells you what you’re getting in the box. The package comes with a base console unit and an emergency help button in the form of either a wristband or necklace depending on your preference.

The base station has a very simple design, it’s gray with a big circular ‘Emergency’ button right in the middle and a smaller ‘Clear’ button off to the side. One interesting feature of the standard device is it can operate not only on a traditional landline, but also most Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol lines and most cable phone lines. If you do use VOIP or a cable phone line LifeStation encourages customers to give them a call first to make sure your provider will be compatible. The only downside is the range is a little bit on the short end, at 500 feet.

LifeStation’s standard help button easily fits in the palm of your hand and is completely waterproof so you’re clear to take it into the shower. They also offer an upgrade to a drop-detection pendant if you’re concerned about not being able to hit the button due to pre-existing medical conditions.

Although you won’t find a page for it on their website, LifeStation does offer a second base station for customers who don’t have a landline, VOIP or cable phone. Instead, it’s powered by a cellular network so you’re free to place it anywhere within your home and it has the same 500-foot range as the landline edition.

In addition to the two home-based products LifeStation also offers their own ‘Mobile Alert System with GPS.’ It’s a pendant that works in a similar fashion to the base station, activating the device by hitting the help button will put you in direct 2-way communication with the monitoring center and also includes a handy GPS built in if you’re not sure where you are.

If you’re an existing client and you don’t want to pay extra for the mobile alert system, LifeStation also offers a ‘Mobile Emergency Button.’ With the push of a button this device skips LifeStation and puts you in direct contact with 911. The only issue is the device is on the larger side, it’s definitely still portable but you’ll have to keep it in a purse or the glove compartment of your car.

All faulty equipment gets replaced without costing you a dime, because LifeStation has an extensive warranty built into its devices. In addition, all of the devices except the mobile emergency button get a weekly test to make sure they are still functioning as intended.

What makes LifeStation special isn’t necessarily the equipment they offer but instead the operators on the line after you phone in for an emergency. The medical monitoring station is run in-house and open 24/7. The average response time is an impressive 20 seconds.

Managing the call center in-house gives LifeStation the ability to directly supervise employees and their emergency response etiquette. The call center is also UL Listed and a recipient of the CSAA Five Diamond certificate.

All of LifeStation’s ‘Care Specialists’ undergo several levels of interviews before they are considered for the position and afterward must undergo a rigorous 6 week training regimen.

The unique feature that sells this service is every time you phone in for a medical emergency, two operators are on the line. If it is an emergency one of them stays on the phone with you while the other dials out for 911 or your family if appropriate. The care specialists are trained to stay on the phone with you until help comes. This provides a high level of security and comfort for you and your loved ones.
